Hendricks fought in the UFC's last welterweight title fight losing a controversial split decision to Georges St. Pierre. That very same night Lawler upset #4 Rory MacDonald by split decision earning him a title shot. This fight will be for the vacant title on March 15, 2014.

Hendricks vs. Lawler fight for the vacant title at UFC 171

With now former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre relinquishing his title for a personal hiatus the UFC will crown a new welterweight champion March 15, 2014 in Dallas, TX. Whoever wins this fight will be the undisputed champion. This fight is not an interim title fight. Should St. Pierre return he will return as a challenger. Robbie Lawler has gone 3-0 since returning to welterweight most recently beating Rory MacDonald. Johny Hendricks fought to a controversial split decision loss to St. Pierre last November. They're expected to take the co main event slot right under Jones vs. Teixeira. 

Jones vs. Teixeira gets rescheduled for UFC 171

Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira gets postponed yet again. Jones is coming off a war with Alexander Gustafsson in which he narrowly escaped while Teixeira is riding a 22-fight winning streak which include wins over Ryan Bader and 'Rampage' Jackson. This fight will headline the event and is scheduled for March 15th in Dallas,TX.

Jake Shields and fellow top 10 welterweight Hector Lombard will square off on March 15th in Dallas, TX. Shields successfully returned to the WW division with wins over Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia while Lombard made successful welterweight debut knocking out Nate Marquardt.
